H.Ch. Schobbers bv has been specialized in Seeds & Kernels for over 75 years.
Schobbers is a family-run business; for more than 10 years it has been fully owned and managed by the third generation of Schobbers.

History
At 18 years old, Hendrik Christiaan Schobbers started selling cereals, cattle fodder and seeds to large farming companies, millers and small cooperatives in Limburg, as well as in the German border area. He bought a warehouse and silo in Echt in 1949 and from then on traded in sowing seeds and grains. The office was in his private house in Venlo.
In the forties H.Ch. Schobbers NV was established. In 1962 his son, L. Schobbers entered the company. In the meantime the company had grown. The distribution was not limited to husbandry, but also included other markets such as the birdfeeder or feed industry and the consumer or food sector.

The 60’s-80’s
Attention became increasingly focused on the international market, both for importing and exporting seeds. In the late sixties the founder left the company and it fell to the 2nd generation L. Schobbers to carry on the business and increase growth.
At the end of the eighties the decision was made to expand the warehouses, thus providing more production and storage capacity in the plant at Echt.

The 90’s-present
In the late nineties the third generation became involved in the company. Trade in general seeds for sowing was greatly reduced. At the same time the focus on Edible Seeds & Kernels developed, while continuing the trade in niche petfood seeds. Niche sowing products such as wildflower seeds and mixes for field borders are sold under the brand name ‘Greendal’.
A new office building in Venlo followed. Further expansion of storage and machinery are taking place on the production location in Echt. Quality systems (HACCP and GMP) have been set up, put into operation and certified.

International food producers of A labels have become regular clients. Schobbers has been presenting itself more and more at international food fairs and conferences since the beginning of the new millennium. Quality system BRC Level A is put in operation and is certified.
In 2009 the office location in Venlo and the production location in Echt were exchanged for a single new location in Venlo. A building in which the office, warehouse and production is united – purpose built for your Seeds & Kernels.
